In 2016 we celebrate our 15th year in business servicing the community in the areas of health, sports specific conditioning , dance specific conditioning, vocational education , continuing education for the pilates industry.

Our organisation fosters skill development, self mastery and a continuing curiosity to learn, grow and develop. We look forward to working with you to begin your pilates journey or to assist you in your continuing education.

We have partnerships with the following individuals:

  • Paula Baird-Colt (Australian Ballet). Supporting the development of a “Dance Specifics Conditioning” course for National Pilates Training. Offered for the first time, commencing in July 2016
  • Sandy McDonald (Business Coach). Supporting the development of a “Clarity in Business” course for small business owners for national Pilates Training offered for the first time, commencing in may 2016

  • 1999
    • Opened “Paramount Pilates” in Union road – Ascot Vale (1 staff member – Katrina)
    • Services offered pilates matwork classes and studio sessions
  • 2001
    • Became the host site for BASI certification and training (Sally Anderson – faculty educator)
  • 2003
    • Opened Melbourne cbd studio – Queen St, Melbourne (2 staff)
    • New business name “National Pilates Training”
    • Services pilates matwork and studio sessions
  • 2004
    • Registered National Pilates Training as a Registered Training Organisation (founded by Kath Banks and Katrina Edwards) licensing Certificate IV in Pilates Matwork and Diploma of Professional pilates Instruction from PITC
  • 2008
    • Shifted the cbd studio to current location at level 4/370 Little Bourke St. Melbourne
  • 2009
    • Purchased the “Aligned for life” business and IP from Jocelyn Dexter.
    • Transferred the two current pilates studios business names to “Aligned for life pilates”
  • 2011
    • Kath Banks uptakes the license for Aligned for life pilates – Moonee Ponds studio (8 staff)
    • Services pilates studio sessions for fitness, injury management-prevention and rehabilitation, all ages and fitness levels
  • 2012
    • Purchased “Daily Pilates” – Tope St, South Melbourne.
    • Transferred business name to “Aligned for life pilates”. Relocated to present location Clarendon St, South Melbourne (5 staff)
    • Services – pilates studio sessions focusing on sports specific conditioning, dance specific conditioning, injury management – prevention and rehabilitation, all age and fitness levels
  • 2013
    • Licensed the “Advanced diploma of the Pilates Method” course from PITC, adding this to our scope
  • 2014
    • Purchased “Pike Pilates ”in East Melbourne from Zoey hart. Transferred business name to Aligned for life pilates
  • 2015
    • Relocated the East Melbourne studio to Bridge Road, Richmond
  • 2016
    • Aligned for life pilates celebrates its 15th year in business. Currently employing 18 staff across the four sites
    • National Pilates Training celebrates its 12th year as a registered training organisation employing 8 staff

Life is a game of participation

When i started to write and prepare for the “is there a ted talk in you” program at slow school of business my self beliefs spoke loudly, my childhood and the lessons learned announced themselves as important. The business owner, teacher and mother had something to say.


For Kath the Pilates Method is vital for maintaining a healthy body where all joints are actively challenged through their full range of movement, with control, contributing to great strength. This is crucial for both the prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries & conditions. Kath has firsthand experience of using the Pilates Method not only for body conditioning but through two pregnancies & post-natal recovery, as well as SIJ dysfunction and knee reconstruction rehabilitation.

Kath Banks (BAppSci Human Movement – Honours, Adv. Dip. Pilates, Cert IV TAE) is the owner of Aligned for Life Pilates Moonee Ponds, which has been servicing the Moonee Ponds and Essendon area for over 15 years.

Kath’s specialty areas include postural analysis, rehabilitation & pregnancy. To further enhance her understanding of the body (in particular clinical conditions and rehabilitation). Kath’s thirst for knowledge and passion for health provide you the support to begin your journey or take your career to the next level.
