Lara first began mat Pilates at the age of 12 as part of the strength and conditioning program at the Australian Ballet School. She found the exercises beneficial for her dancing, and so made a habit of consistently doing them at home with her older sister Emma. After sustaining various short term injuries over 3 years and having to take lots of time off to rehabilitate, she began to enjoy the time spent doing Pilates and strength training more than dancing itself.

Though he appreciated its holistic approach in providing a general mind/body/spirit balance, he sought a method that would provide a more bespoke approach to assist with his muscular imbalances and alignment issues in his functional movement. He found this, and so much more, in his first Studio Pilates sessions.
