At our Moonee Ponds studio, the Pilates Method is movement for life. With a focus on actively challenging all joints, through their full range of movement, they provide the ideal environment to begin your Pilates journey while also helping with the prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions.
Hi, I’m Kath and this is Aligned for Life Moonee Ponds. We’re a dedicated Pilates studio and we’ve been teaching in the area for nearly 20 years.
Pilates is all we teach, so it’s certainly our area of expertise. This has a lot to do with the staff working here who are all very passionate about the method. They’re also highly trained with Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas of the Pilates Method, but even better than that, they’re really dedicated to the work and they do the work on their own bodies. This means they know how the movement feels, and when you know how a movement feels on your own body, it makes it a lot easier to teach others.
For us, the Pilates method is all about teaching others how to move better for their own lives. This means different things for different people – we have young girls with scoliosis, all the way up to older adults dedicated to keeping their bodies strong and supple. Some of those are all the way up until their 80’s! They’re fabulous people working in the studio here and they dedicate the Pilates method to being one of the reasons why they move better now than what they did even 10 years ago.
A lot of our clients initially came to see us because they were in pain. Teaching them how to move better – to become stronger, to become more supple and to become more mobile – has allowed them to get out of pain. The majority of these clients have then stuck with us for many, many years because they realised that the Pilates method enables them to move better and to move well for all of the other activities they do in their own lives.
One of the best things about the Pilates method and a fully equipped studio is the ability to break movement down into its’ most simple form, and then from the most simple form, we can add steps along the way and we can build it all the way up to challenging functional movement. This means that we can cater for clients that have got musculoskeletal aches and pains, conditions such as lower back pain, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis – we can get them out of pain moving well for their lives, but it also means because the work can become so challenging it’s ideal for those with healthy bodies wanting to maintain condition and strength or increase their condition and strength, and then also for dedicated athletes wanting to improve their performance.
