Plank to pike

At 90 years old Coralie can hold a plank and a pike so effortlessly!

She told us, ‘My dream is to stay healthy, socialise and to have hobbies and things to do. There’s no point in sitting around and doing nothing because your brain doesn’t work. I found that here, doing Pilates, you’ve got to concentrate so therefore your brain’s getting some exercise too.’

Calf raises

90-year old Coralie has been working on her strength, flexibility, control and balance through Pilates for many years.

Even though she has a vision problem, she doesn’t let that stop her! She’s always out and about on trains, trams and escalators without any problems because her balance is spot on! Here she’s showing us beautifully balanced standing calf raises during a mat class.

Kneeling swim

Here is the fabulous 90-year old Coralie executing a beautiful kneeling swim. She’s been coming to Pilates every week for the past 2 and a half years years and she said she ‘always feels better after she’s had a session.’Even her younger friends can’t move like she does, and she credits that to consistent exercise. She’s perfectly summed up the mentality that’s kept her so youthful and strong, “Sometimes I wake up in the morning and I think, ‘Oh it’s a bit hard getting out of bed today,’ but I come here and I feel the benefit of it.” What an inspiration!
